Tips for Betting from the Blinds in Poker
There are a few different strategies for betting from the blinds, mainly used to reduce your opponents' control in the game and to give you better odds. By knowing what to bet from the blinds, you'll be better able to work the table in your favor.
Shortstacker
When you're dealing with short stackers in the blinds, one of the most important things you want to do is min raise or bet 2.5x the button. This will give you an advantage because it will reduce the short stacker's desire to bet all in. This is because if they go all in, they're risking everything to win a lower amount.
Folded to You
You're going to want to min raise the small blind when the hand has been folded to you and you've got a short stacker in the big blind. The reason for this is that the short stacker is most likely not going to flat your min raise. They operate based on a push or fold basis so when you min raise the small blind, you're going to force this short stacker to fold.
Other Tips for Betting from the Blinds
The most important thing to do here (and with every strategy) is learn the individuals you're playing against. You want to know what makes them tick and what they're going to do in any given situation. This gives you the ability to make quick decisions that will lead to large pots.
Always take the time to notice what's going on around you in a game of poker. Notice how your opponents bet and then use that information to get precisely what you want.
